Christmas Present #2
Ta da! What is it, you ask? Let me explain.
For the past year or so, the man in the dog pajamas has been asking me to make a new wall hanging to replace the aspen leaf wall hanging. Although I was in support of replacing the aspen leaf in favor of something more unique, I had reservations about making the replacement. The problem was that I had to look at this wall hanging each and every day. And you know how it goes, when you make something, the mistakes, errors, and wobbly seams all stand out like flashing neon lights.
But he persisted and I relented. Plus, I had just gotten a new Accuquilt hexagon die, and I wanted to try her out! 🙂 So started cutting hexagon after hexagon out of felted wool. Side note: I really do love felted wool. I wasn’t sure how all of these hexagons would go together, so I laid them out on the kitchen table and kept rearranging them until I found something I liked.
After I got layout that I liked, I started sewing–all by machine. I decided to use a piece of chocolate faux suede for the background. There was lots and lots of appliqueing.
Here’s the finished product!
