Day 33: #100HappyDays
Happiness is figuring out a pattern that will work for a small, but beloved, remnant! A year or so ago I bought a remnant box from the Malden Mills outlet and received a small piece of double sided 300 weight fleece. One side was a heathered tan velour and the other was a tan berber. I LOVED this fabric. I really, really loved this fabric, but I had no idea what to make with it. The problem was the size of the remnant. At best, I had a yard of fleece, but it was a rather long, narrow piece that added up to a full yard.
Enter McCall’s 3033. I’ve had this pattern forever and once used it to make a shrug, but the other day I was cleaning out my patterns and noticed View F–the capelet. View F could be made with less than a yard of fabric!! Capelets can be made out of fleece!! This was the moment/pattern I have been waiting for!!
Since my fleece was double sided, I did not use a lining. I also decided to bind the edges with the fleece, berber side out. Finally, I added an Urban Threads embroidery design on each side of the front.
And here’s a close up of the embroidery–I love the added texture it gives the fleece.
