Saving the Wadder
It was a really big day around here! First of all, we had an earthquake!!! It was a little one, but still…we don’t have too many of them around here. The dogs and I didn’t know quite what to make of it. The second big event was that I installed my very first invisible zipper!!! I feel quite accomplished! Now before I show you the zipper, I need to tell the story of Simplicity 1878 (AKA the Lisette Diplomat dress.)
In a couple of weeks, the Mr. and I are going to an engagement party. I had my eye on the Lisette Diplomat for a cute new party dress. I needed to try it out, so I opted for trying it with a cotton print before making the real deal. It all went together relatively easily, zipper and all, but there was a problem. I looked like I was wearing a sack of potatoes. Not good!
I really didn’t want to throw it way, but I was really never ever going to wear it. I decided to shorten it and see what it looked like as a blouse.
I think it’s better. I actually might wear it now.
I am not sure if you can see it, but I tried my new pintuck foot out on the yoke. I have kinda become obsessed with pintucks.
Here’s a close-up.
So, last but not least, here’s the invisible zipper.
Not too bad for a first try coupled with an earthquake! Now I just need to find a new pattern for the party dress!
