Giant Bird Curtains

August 14, 2013

This past weekend my mom, my aunt, and I went to the Cloth Barn in Goldsboro, NC. I’d never been before and was in search of fabric for kitchen curtains. I’d heard some really good things about this independent fabric store and am happy to report that the barn lived up to its reputation–bolts and bolts of upholstery and drapery fabric. After much looking, I decided on this:

and this:

cornice board fabric

I wanted something that went together, but wasn’t too matchy-matchy. As you can see, it’s definitely not matchy-matchy. I used the “plaid” to cover two cornice boards that I made from some wood that was lying around the house. Here’s one of the cornice boards:

Then I took the giant bird fabric and made some giant bird curtains for our kitchen door. At first the giant birds were a little overpowering–imagine that! So I added some black grossgrain ribbon to break up the print. That seemed to help. Here they are closed:

Admit it, now all of you want giant bird curtains!! Well, you’re in luck cuz there’s more giant bird fabric to be had at the Cloth Barn.
