A couple months ago, I got a new entry table. And once I had the new table, I wanted some new lamps!! I lucked out and found two of these on CLEARANCE at our local Tuesday Morning.
I liked the lamp, and I loved the price. The only problem was the shade. When I turned the light on, all I could see was a bare, glaring light bulb. Not a good look. So, after a lot of internet searching, I decided to try out the Martha Stewart glass paints.
I got the spray paint kit and three paints (green gold, yellow gold, and champagne) at Michaels with a half off coupon. The kit is a little pricey, so the coupon really helped. The directions say to spray lightly, dry, and repeat. The problem was that even when sprayed a super light coat, I was still getting drips. So, I brought out my hair dryer and started using it between coats and it worked like a charm. No more drips. I started with the yellow gold–I was painting on the inside of the shade. Then I added a few coats of green gold, and then champagne.
I was pretty psyched about the end result. It looks a little yellow in the picture, but it’s more like a warm, gold glow.
